Moon in Aquarius Rituals and Meditations: August 2009 Full Moon Eclipse

The August Full Moon in Aquarius, aka the Sturgeon Moon, occurs on August 5, 2009 at 7:55 PM Central time here in the Florida Panhandle. Last month’s Full Moon was about dreaming your dreams a little differently. This Full Moon, I feel, is all about…letting your dream take you by the hand. More on that….

Aquarius, an air sign, is generally about revolution, vision, individuality, humanitarianism. It's ideas. This time it's about allowing the idea of something beautiful to take form and offer you a hand, particularly at the time when you feel like you don't need a hand but you can certainly enjoy it and accept it.

For some reason, this Full Moon in Aquarius with the Sun in bold, creative, and dramatic Leo is always a playful moon for me. It's taking those wildly beautiful and fun ideas and putting them into practice, turning them loose whereas we kept them hidden and quiet before, only in our minds. It's time to let 'er rip and have fun with what we're bringing into our lives!

This year will be a very, very powerful time for that because we have a lunar eclipse occurring on the same day from 6:01 to 9:17 PM Central time. Eclipses are like having rocket motors attached to your intentions when there's something you want to manifest. The eclipse at 13 degrees 44 of Aquarius at 7:58 PM Central will be felt the strongest by people born the first week of February as well as all Aquarians. Next to that, people at the opposition of this eclipse, Leos, will feel it strongly with Leo's born this week feeling it more strongly than most. Based on the recent July 7 eclipse in Capricorn and its effects on Capricorns and the opposite, Cancers, some of you may be in for a rough ride. I expect Leo's to have some struggles and upsets with this eclipse, but Aquarians will have a far harder time. The eclipse conjuncting their Sun will feel like a nuclear blast of power struggle, opposition, or challenge to who they are and what they want. If you're an Aquarius or Leo, expect this eclipse to bring news, likely unwelcome or temporarily upsetting news, between Wednesday and the weekend, though you may also feel it a month later to the day or even 6 months later to the day. This eclipse will speed things up for you and get you on the right track, but even the best of results for this eclipse of a Full Moon in Aquarius will probably leave you a little shaky at first.

For most of last year, I’ve been following this “story” of a river of emotions connected with Moon phases–everything from bridges over rivers to the structure that holds the river in its banks, to surfing the river, to becoming the river, to rising above the river in a parasail…all taking me “around the riverbend” to a beautiful new vista that is lush and green. For those of you who know me personally, you’ve watched in amazement and then horror at how some of these influences have played out in my life and how I’ve been healing from some heartbreaks and reached a place of happiness again.

Thus far, the past year’s meditations have included Bridges, Riverbanks/Structures, Surfing/Sailing, Parasailing, Becoming the River, Rocks, Rebuilding the Riverbanks, Covered in Healing Mud, Washing off the Mud and Dancing Naked in the Sunlight, Beginning to Play in the River Again, Full-on Splashing in the River, Speeding around in Fun but Directionless Circles in my little boat, Picking up a Passenger or two as we zip forward, Deciding to Go Ashore, Discovering that my Sword of Truth (speaking it) unlocked a special enchanted forest ahead, deciding the reality of the fire-dancer that is the story how we choose to tell it, and learning to dream the dream a little differently.

Full Moon in Aquarius Meditation:

Which brings us to this month’s Full Moon in Aquarius / Lunar Eclipse meditation: In this meditation, I have come to understand that just because I close my eyes does not mean the sun disappears. It is still there, still as real as my dreams, even if I don't see them at that moment or I'm not looking at them at that moment.

Under this Full Moon in Aquarius, I find myself crossing a great field. The river of emotions is behind me, the enchanted forest and castle to the left of me. I'm not sure where I'm going at the moment and it doesn't particularly matter where I go or when I get there. I'm not even thinking of those things. I'm only thinking of what fun I'm having!

I am barefoot and intrigued by the puddles of light and dark jade green water in this field, and I am jumping happily into them, making big splashes and testing out those emotions I've distanced myself from. I'm having a blast--no other way to put it! Then I become aware of a man beside me, also barefoot. He's very tall. Maybe a foot taller, and my head is about even with his shoulder. His shoulders are broad and strong but I don't see his face. Whether he is a real lover of mine or a thought form of a dream I have, he walks beside me, content to be with me on my adventure.

He stretches out one hand and I take it, winding my fingers deeply into his. He lets me know he is here to help hold me up should I slip. I don't feel I need his help at all, but it's offered and I accept it. We skip through the field, pouncing together into puddles and having fun, this dream and I.

This Full Moon in Aquarius bids us to let our dreams support us for a change, even when we don't need them to. Let our dreams become our partners in manifestation, and our partners in the fun we're having with or without them. If we can do that, they come into reality so much more quickly.
